In the summer of 2009, young entrepreneurs Richard Mazzarino and Jonathan Antao, once direct competitors, decided to bring their companies Blue Water Homes and The Mazzarino Group together to form Mazzarino Construction & Development. Since the formation of the new company, Mazzarino Construction & Development has built on Richard and Jonathan’s individual reputations to become one of Houston’s most well-known and reputable close in builders.
Richard got his start in home building young. At 16 he started as an hourly laborer picking up garbage and keeping job sites clean for Castles and Cottages, one of central Maryland’s premier custom home builders. At only 19 years old Richard took his first shot at developing real estate when he successfully bought and flipped a dilapidated Baltimore city rowhome. Richard continued working his way up the construction ladder for Castles and Cottages throughout his four years at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance. Upon graduation, Richard moved to Houston and created Mazzarino Construction & Development, a boutique real estate development & home building company focused on urban residences in Houston’s inner loop and industrial development throughout the city. Since forming the company in 2006, Richard has built dozens of homes ranging in price from the high two hundreds to $1m+ and has developed over $4m worth of industrial projects. Outside of the office Richard enjoys traveling with his wife, taking his four dogs to Houston’s dog parks, and donating his time and resources to the American Cancer Society and SPCA.
Jonathan started working with us in 2009 when he was hired to come on as project manager for all of our existing projects. After a very successful initial project together, Richard and Jonathan merged their two companies. Prior to working with us, as the principle of Blue Water Homes, Jonathan has managed sites from common driveway townhomes to million dollar custom homes to everything in between. Jonathan’s primary responsibilities include bidding all of the jobs, supervision of our superintendents as well as additional site supervision, as well as negotiating terms with subcontractors. Jonathan has been involved in construction his entire life; before managing new construction projects, Jonathan had a tremendously successful career purchasing, renovating, and reselling homes all over Houston.

Today, the company specializes in new construction, luxury home building in Houston’s most prestigious inner loop neighborhoods, building roughly 20-40 homes each year, typically valued at $600k and up. Mazzarino employs a full time staff including field, purchasing, and administrative teams. Our dedicated and experienced teams meticulously oversee the design, development, and construction of each and every home that we build.
